This route is for sponsored young people from participating countries who wish to experience life in the U.K. The applicant’s government acts as their sponsor.
ELIGIBILITY: At present only nationals of Australia, New Zealand, Canada and Japan can participate in this program. OR they would have to be British Overseas Citizens, British Overseas Territories Citizen or British Nationals (Overseas). These nationals are said to have deemed sponsor status.
Applicants must be in the age group 18 – 30
They should not have held Working Holiday Maker status prior to application
The validity of the visa is 2 years and will not be allowed to extend their stay or switch to other routes.
Dependants are not allowed to accompany the applicant unless they qualify under this scheme in their own right or through other routes.
POINTS: Points can be claimed for attributes like nationality (30pts), Age (10 pts) and maintenance funds (10 pts)
MAINTENANCE FUNDS: The applicant should hold funds in excess of GBP 1600/- as per UKBA guidelines. It is always better to have funds to cover your living costs for the entire period of your stay.
