A person providing a personal service relating to the
running of his/her employer's household is classified
as a “Domestic Worker”. It normally includes
chauffeurs, gardeners, cooks and nannies. Most of the
emigrant families relocating to the UK seek approval
to be accompanied by domestic workers who have been
working for them overseas. The immigration rules require
the domestic worker to apply to the nearest British
overseas mission for a visa before traveling to the
UK.
