Dependant Visa:

Under this category of visa, certain UK visa holders with non – immigrant visa status like students, work permit holders, HSMP holders, Investors, Innovators and Sole representatives are allowed to bring their dependants to the United Kingdom. Dependants for the purpose of this visa may either be husband, wife or children (under 18 years) of the principal applicant. For a dependent visa, the dependant is expected to apply for entry clearance through the respective British High Commission of his or her home country if s/he intends to join the principal applicant in the UK. The holder of a dependant visa enjoys similar benefits in par with that of the principal applicant. In order to apply for an entry clearance under dependant visa scheme, the spouse or partner or children (under 18 years) is required to submit proof to establish the relationship between them and the principal applicant. It is also necessary to prove that the principal applicant will be able to support his or her dependant without resorting to public funds from the Government of UK. The dependant has to enter the UK within 90 days from the date of issue of visa, which is normally valid for one year.
