OUR FIRST YEAR SAGA 1st june 2006 by Raji Govindaraj

KORENBERG ABRAMOWITZ RAJ & MATHI or KARM Immigration Services P Ltd as it would hence forth be addressed is proud to announce the successful completion of its first year in Chennai, India. On review of the past 12 months I am overwhelmed with pride and nostalgia. I dared to dream, and the list of clientele, and the variety of visas we have secured for them stands testimony to our sincerity and the quality of our work. Thanks to my team for daring to dream with me, and in so doing have imbibed the values and ethics that KARM so proudly stands for today.

Our clientele, include people from various geographies, like the U.S, U.K, Singapore, China, Hong Kong, Ethiopia and almost all locations in India.
The firm was founded purely with the intention of servicing our clients by offering authentic immigration advice. The last year has been a challenge in many ways as we have handled a variety of visas successfully, some of them for the very first time.

UK VISAS:

A) Student visas: We would very much like encourage youngsters to expand their horizons globally, and to this effect have played an integral role in helping students to secure their visas despite prior rejections. We offer a total package, right from selection of the universities, Statement of purpose, to facilitating the visa. We have made it a point to contribute regularly to www.infozee.com, an exclusive study abroad portal, intended to ease the tensions of students baffled by complex immigration procedures.

B) Business visas:
Globalization entails constant travel between India and Countries like the U.S & U.K for corporate employees. Also, small and medium sized companies have sensed the potential in having a presence in the U.K to enhance their visibility. Over the past year we have catered to innumerable visas pertaining to this segment of business travellers from all over India. The SOLE REPRESENTATIVE visa is for business people who need to stay in the U.K for periods longer than 6 months to establish and expand their Indian / U.K business. We have facilitated these very unique visas for a few corporate.

C) Visitors Visas: Re-location of employees eventually leads to the families visiting them. Although it is a simple visa, most of the time they are turned down, because the applicant is quite naïve in the manner in which the documents should be submitted to the British High Commission. KARM immigration services P Ltd, has empathized with these clients and successfully secured the visas for them.

D) Work Permits & Intra company transfers are handled by our London office. This helps to adjust your status, while you are in the U.K from a student to a work permit holder. As these are 2 fold visas, our London office files for approval at the Home Office, and we facilitate the Entry Clearance from the British High commission for our clients, if you are in India.

E) Working Holday Maker Visa: We pride ourselves in the total understanding in the nuances of this visa. My article “The highly mythical U.K Working Holiday Maker Visa” has achieved the highest acclaim and is still one of the “Hot” topics on most immigration forums.

F) Highly Skilled Migrant Programme: (HSMP): Currently this is “Jewel in the Crown” for us. In this particular category of visa people from all walks of life can apply if they fulfill the initial point criteria. We have allocated a special segment for this particular visa on our website:www.karmlaw.com, and have tried to provide the maximum information for our clients.

G) Dependant & Ancestry visas: We have handled a number of dependant visa for both work permit holders and P.R / British Nationals. Ancestry visas are the most complicated of all British visas. Just keep in mind that Britain ruled more than half the world at one point of time, and allows citizenship to the descendants of its subjects if they were nationals of any of its overseas territories during a specific time frame.

H) Civil partnership: This law was enacted as recently as dec 2005, and without being judgmental have handled a couple of these cases too.

US VISAS:

A) Business / Visitor visas (B1 / B2) The application process for applying for a Non immigrant visa at the U.S consulates in India are much more complex than the U.K. Fixing up a web appointment for the interview is complex too, as the dates are at least 5 – 6 months away. We have assisted our clients with fixing the earliest available date, authentic documentation and client specific visa counseling.

B) Student Visas. ( F1 / F2) We take special pride in supporting our young clients in their Academic growth path. We do not just restrict ourselves to the visa issues alone, but a brief orientation on U.S universities and culture is given to the students as part of our counseling sessions. The moment of utmost satisfaction comes when students call us first, bubbling with joy, even before they call their parents, when they get their visas. F2’s are not always easy, but we have secured these visas by presenting the right documentation.

C) H1 / H4’s: This is pretty straightforward procedure if the applicant has done his masters in the U.S and switched to a H1 by accepting a job offer from a U.S company. But can get quite complex if the company sponsoring for the applicant is a staffing company with a bad track record. These visas require professional help if the visa has been refused a few times. H4’s too tend to get complicated if the spouse has not been in LCA compliance during his stay in the U.S. KARM Immigration Services P Ltd specialise in these visas with a great degree of success.

D) L1 / L2’s : An L1 is an intra –company transfer visa. An Indian company can send their employees on longer durations to their U.S entity. It can be a little cumbersome for a lay person to handle these visas on their own, because of the lengthy documentation it involves. We have handled these visas for quite a few small and medium sized companies, including incorporating their branch / subsidiaries in the U.S.

E) J1 / J2’s: These are exchange visitor visa, and in most cases require a two-year home residency requirement. The advantage is that the spouse can work once he / She has an EAD (employment authorization document).

We have also helped our client with the other visas like the R1 / R2 , K1 / K3, employment and family based green cards including Direct Consular Filing issues.

We have put our very best while handling each one of these visas. The client has been made to feel extra special and their concerns empathized with, thereby cementing a long term relationship with them. We hereby commit to continue doing the same in the future.
